if no change, try around the intake, same deal.and of course, scrutinize vacuum hoses carefully. if engine speed changes, you found the leak. try this: with engine warm and running, spray carb cleaner around base of carb. like if you have a torn base gasket on the carb. before assuming there is a problem with your carb, make sure there are no vacuum or other leaks.įast idle is often caused by air entering the system that shouldn't. If you have no plans to do it yourself and no Quadrajet knowledgeable local guy, buy a rebuilt one. If you think you can do this, but don't know what is different between a Quadrajet and a Holley for example, there is a book you should buy and read on the subject. If you have a Quadrajet knowledgeable person to do the rebuild, rebuild. it's not! it's just people bad mouthing what they do not understand. they struggle trying to get them right, fail miserably, slap on a Holley or Edelbrock, car runs great, Quadrajet must be garbage. The bad rep comes from people who do not understand them rebuilding them.

Quadrajets are awesome carbs with a horrible reputation.
